SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Workshop on Reality Reimagined: Designing and DeployingImmersive AR/VR/XR Systems

The Department of Information Science and Engineering (ISE) organised a one-day technical workshop titled “Reality Reimagined: Designing and Deploying Immersive AR/VR/XR Systems” as part of its Silver Jubilee Celebration. The event aimed to provide engineering students with comprehensive exposure to emerging immersive technologies and bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. Resource persons Mr Sanjay K R and Ms Kavitha Chandran from VyVoxel India Private Limited led the workshop.

The morning session focused on the fundamentals of AR, VR, and XR, covering system architecture, hardware components, software frameworks, and real-world applications in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, and engineering design.

The afternoon session offered hands-on training in immersive application development using Unity and Blender, where students created AR applications, VR simulations, and interactive virtual environments. Participants also learned the basics of 3D modelling, scene creation, interaction design, real-time rendering, testing, and deployment techniques. Key topics included the differences between AR, VR, and XR, immersive system components, asset integration, and industry applications.

The workshop enhanced students’ practical skills and conceptual understanding of immersive technologies. It encouraged exploration of AR/VR/XR for mini-projects, final-year projects, research, and startups. Overall, the event was highly informative, interactive, and positively received, contributing meaningfully to the department’s milestone Silver Jubilee celebration.
