Flex Your Mind: Yoga for Inner Strength

The Department of Information Science, and Engineering organized a rejuvenating yoga session titled “Flex Your Mind: Yoga for Inner Strength” on Friday, 9th May 2025. The event was held at the Indoor Basketball Stadium and commenced at 09:00 AM, catering to students of the IV and VI semesters.

The session was led by Mrs. Komala Sairam, a certified yoga instructor, who guided participants through a series of practices aimed at enhancing mental flexibility, emotional resilience, and inner strength. The session began with a brief introduction to the origins and holistic benefits of yoga, emphasizing its role in improving both mental and physical well-being.

Activities conducted during the session included

  • Pranayama (Breathing Exercises): To calm the mind and enhance focus.
  • Warm-Up Stretches: To prepare the body for deeper postures.
  • Asanas (Postures): Including Tadasana, Trikonasana, Uttanasana, Vrikshasana, and Bhujangasana.
  • Surya Namaskar: A dynamic sequence of 12 poses to energize and align breath with movement.
  • Guided Meditation and Relaxation: To promote mindfulness and inner calm.

Participants actively engaged in the session and expressed that it was a refreshing break from their academic routine. Many reported improved focus, reduced stress, and a stronger mind-body connection. The instructor also shared practical tips for incorporating yoga into daily life and encouraged students to continue their practice. The event was well-received and was appreciated for promoting health, wellness, and mental clarity. The message that yoga is not just about physical flexibility, but also about cultivating a resilient and balanced mind was a message that was ingrained into the students thought process.
