Visit to Indian Institute of Science IISc Open Day 2020
The Department of Information Science and Engineering organized an educational visit to Indian Institute of Science IISc, Bangalore on the 29th of Feb, 2020 to be part of Open Day 2020. A total of 50 students from the 6 th semester along with the faculty coordinator Prof Vandana C.P and Prof. Mounica had been a part of this visit.
The Open Day 2020 featured popular lectures, experimental demos, poster presentations, quiz contests, scientific competitions, and exhibitions showcased in the various departments and centers. From autonomous drone to assist Agriculture that can find its way to a recharging pad to computer systems that can build other systems for human use, the ‘Open Day’ at Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, on Saturday was a veritable display of cutting-edge technology and simplified concepts for students and science enthusiasts .The campus was abuzz with activity including lectures, experimental demos, poster presentations, quiz contests, scientific competitions, and exhibitions being conducted around the premises.
The Aerospace Research Department was crowded by those wishing to witness rocket launch demos. Department of Computer Science and Automation showcased expert talks from CISCO partners and demonstrated the Virtual reality based projects. Students participated in quiz competitions and were motivated by the current research activities undertaken.
Department of Computation and Data Science (CDS) presented the CRAY CX40 supercomputer and its configuration. Students understood the practical usage of these supercomputers in weather forecasting and other aeronautical applications at ISRO. Latest technologies like BlockChain, Industrial IIOT, Data Science and Machine learning applications and latest research problems were shared with students.
Students visited the inter-disciplinary labs, Pure Mathematics and Physics Labs. Also, organic and inorganic chemistry departments exhibited their projects which were very inspiring and motivated the students towards Green Earth and environmental conservation.
Students learned the importance of automation in inter-disciplinary fields. This Visit was quite a remarkable one that allowed the aspiring engineers to have an experience of Technology revolution. The buddy engineers understood the automation and digitalization and its impact on mankind and society. They were highly motivated to take up research activities and give their contribution to the development of Indian economy.
