Workshop on Next Generation Cyber Defense and Ethical Security Frameworks

The Department of Information Science and Engineering conducted a workshop on Next Generation Cyber Defense and Ethical Security Frameworks on 24 February 2026 as part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations. The session aimed to equip students with practical insights into emerging cybersecurity trends and ethical security practices.

Distinguished professionals from IBM, Srivatsan Jagannathan and Rajasekar Muthusamy, served as the resource persons for the event. They shared industry perspectives on enterprise security, cloud defence mechanisms, and real-world threat landscapes.

Students participated in technical demonstrations focused on cloud security, threat modelling, and ethical hacking methodologies. Hands-on activities enabled participants to configure defence tools, analyse vulnerabilities, and simulate cyber-attack scenarios.

The workshop highlighted the importance of ethical conduct, legal compliance, and responsible cybersecurity behaviour. An interactive Q&A session allowed students to clarify technical doubts and explore career paths in the security domain.

The event strengthened students’ understanding of next-generation cyber defence strategies and industry-standard tools. Overall, the workshop bridged academic learning with practical cybersecurity applications, inspiring students to pursue advanced research and careers in information security.
